Manchester United agree deal with Chelsea for Mason Mount transfer

Manchester United finally made a splash in the transfer market on Thursday when they agreed to a deal worth £60m with Chelsea, according to various reports.

The English midfielder is set to undergo medicals after this weekend and his contract will be valid until June 2028.

United were after Mount since the beginning of the transfer window but their initial three bids were rejected by Chelsea.

Mount came though the Chelsea academy and had stayed with Chelsea for 18 years, making 195 appearances for the first team, scoring 33 goals.

After a successful 2020/21 season which saw Mount help Chelsea win the Champions League under Thomas Tuchel, his minutes were curtailed in the following seasons under Graham Potter and Frank Lampard.

The 24-year-old also has 36 England caps and has scored five goals for his country. He was also part of the squad that went on to represent the Three Lions at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

United, meanwhile, are in search of a new striker and are monitoring the Tottenham’s Harry Kane who has piqued the interest of German giants Bayern Munich as well.
