RCB vs GT playing tip-off XI: Titans to rest Shami and Pandya, Little returns, Dinesh Karthik to warm bench

IPL 2023: High-flying Royal Challengers Bangalore will take on table-topper Gujarat Titans at the M Chinnaswamy in Bangalore on Sunday. Faf du Plessis’ side needs to win this game to qualify for the playoffs for the second time in a row.

After back-to-back thumping wins Royal Challengers looks like they have all the momentum for the playoff qualification. With a ton from Virat Kohli in the last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad, any questions related to his strike rate have been put to bed. However, apart from Kohli, Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, there has been nothing much on either side which might be an Achilles heel for the side.

Defending champions Titans on the other hand would be looking to rest a few players for the game. They have been consistent throughout the season and once again looked like a champion side. Their performance has been top-notch throughout the season in all departments. They would be facing Chennai Super Kings in Qualifier 1 and will be looking to try out a few different combinations in tonight’s game. However, for all the positives a chink in their armour has been their death bowling. They will be looking to sort it out before the playoffs.

Mohammed Shami and Hardik Pandya is to be rested

The seamer has been sensational with the new ball throughout this season. He has been crucial for the Titans in picking up early wickets and pushing the opposition onto the backfoot. He holds the purple cap with 23 wickets. The Titans would be hoping to give him a breather and keep him fresh for the playoffs.

Skipper, on the other hand, would be happy with the way his side has gone about its business but itching to improve upon his personal performance. He has given a glimpse of what he can do both with the bat and ball every now and then but could not deliver match-winning innings or string a run of performances together. He would be looking to switch off his mind and come fresh for the playoffs.

Josh Little is back into the side

The Irish left-armer has left the camp earlier in the month for national duties. However, he has returned back and will be available for the playoff selection. Little has not started the season well nevertheless got better and better as the season went on. In the last few games he played for the Titans, he looked in top rhythm and was hitting lengths which would make any batter uncomfortable.

No place for Dinesh Karthik

The wicket-keeper’s form this season has fallen off a cliff. The batter struggled to repeat the heroics of the last season. He has been struggling with his timing throughout the season and looks like yesterday’s man. With Anuj Rawat keeping wickets and providing the required finishing touches in the last couple of games RCB has found a satisfactory replacement for the remainder of the season.
